Intellectual Property Rights Cell (IPR Cell)

Along with teaching and extension activities, AKES College encourages creativity, research, and provides a conducive environment for innovation. A strong research culture and innovative teaching approaches necessitate Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), which play a vital role in providing a competitive edge to the institution.

Academic and research institutions are primarily concerned with managing projects and research initiatives successfully. Protection of intellectual property benefits all stakeholders. Intellectual property refers to creations of the human intellect, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, software, printed material, inventions, devices, chemical compounds, data sets, musical works, and innovative applications of existing inventions.

The Government of India revised the National IPR Policy in May 2016. The Union Cabinet approved the National Intellectual Property Rights Policy on 12 May 2016 to foster creative and innovative energies and channelize them toward national development. The policy integrates all forms of IPR on a single platform, promotes synergy among concerned statutes and agencies, and establishes mechanisms for implementation, monitoring, and review.

In line with this initiative, AKES College has established the IPR Cell to promote research, innovation, and awareness among all stakeholders. The IPR Cell works in close coordination with the Research Cell of the college.
